SIM Registration Philippines: Everything You Need To Know

SIM registration Philippines is the process of getting a new SIM card or activating an existing SIM card. To register your mobile phone, you need to provide some personal information like your name, address, and contact number.

This is done by contacting the telco provider or retailer where you bought your SIM card or by sending an SMS to the telco provider if you already have a SIM card.

What is SIM Registration?

Republic Act No. All SIM users (new and old) are required to register their SIMs with current Telcos by Republic Act No. 11934

Why is it necessary to register my SIM card?

The SIM Registration Law is designed to protect users against any SIM, Internet, or Electronic communication aided crime such as terrorism, text scams or unsolicited, indecent, or obscene messages, bank frauds, bank fraud, anonymous online defamation and trolling, hate speech, or spread of fake news.

Register SIM Card for New Users

New SIM cards that are activated after December 27th will need to be registered before activation. These details will be collected:

  • Full name
  • Birthday
  • Sex
  • Addresses at present or in the official system
  • ID and ID number

Validation will require a liveness check and a selfie photo.

Companies and organizations will need to provide the following:

  • Name of the business
  • Address for business
  • Full name of the authorized signatory

Beginning Dec. 27, SMART and TNT subscribers can register for FREE through https://smart.com.ph/simreg. Globe mobile users will be able to proceed with the registration through here: https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg

SIM Card Registration for Existing Customers

  • Smart Prepaid, Smart Bro, and TNT subscribers must register through https://smart.com.ph/simreg. or by texting YES to 5858 (SMART) using the SIM to be used for registration. Registering is free. On the other hand, Globe subscribers can access their registration link via https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg.

Register SIM Card for Minors

  • Registering the SIM for minor users must be done under the parent’s or guardian’s name.

SIM Card Registration for Foreign Nationals/Tourists

The following information is required for foreign nationals:

  • Full name
  • Nationality
  • Birthday
  • Passport
  • Address in the Philippines
  • Type of admission or travel document
  • Number of documents presented or ID number

Tourist SIM cards will not be valid after 30 days. They will be deactivated at expiration.

SIM cards can be obtained by foreign nationals who have other types of visas without the 30-day limit

How many SIM cards are allowed?

There are no restrictions on the number of SIMs that you can register.

If I purchase a new SIM, how long do I have to register before it expires?

If you purchased a new prepaid SIM on or after December 27, 2022, you need to do the SIM Registration Philippines immediately to activate and start using the SIM. If you do not need to use the SIM right away, you have until the SIM shelf life expiry date indicated in the SIM packaging to register and begin using it.

I am a verified GCash / Maya user. Do I still have to register my Globe SIM?

Yes, you must still register your SIM separately via Globe or Smart’s online registration portal.
